"Samantha VanderWyst draws inspiration from her serene, personal sanctuary to create her art. For over 15 years, she has lived as a homesteader in the woods, weaving her deep affection for animals, flowers, plants, and mushrooms into her work, alongside her appreciation for the simple pleasures of life. The spiritual interconnectedness of all things is a core theme that resonates through her paintings and linocut prints. Her paintings, crafted on reclaimed wood, blend acrylic ink and paint with bold yet delicate linework, featuring intricate patterns and designs. Her linocuts are lively and whimsical, often evoking the spirit of folk tales, with a touch of the otherworldly. A longtime resident of the Haliburton area, Samantha will be joining this year’s tour as a guest artist at Studio Q."
